Experiencing problems smiling, chewing, or biting due to badly damaged teeth or a gap after tooth extraction? Worry no more because, at Twin Lakes Dental, we have your back. We will provide you with quality dental treatment to get those gaps filled and teeth corrected using the latest dental technology.

You do not have to live with the pain of having weak, fractured, or discoloured teeth. We are reputable for providing the best dental bridges and crowns throughout the Central Coast region in Australia. Not just for dental bridges but we are also known as the best when it comes to teeth whitening services on Central Coast.

What are Dental Crowns and Bridges?

Both dental bridges and crowns are prosthetic devices fixed on the teeth to cover a fractured, discoloured, or weak tooth. They are different from dentures because you cannot remove them daily for cleaning. Once cemented, they will most likely last a lifetime with proper oral hygiene and daily flossing.

How Do Crowns Work?

Crowns provide a protective covering over damaged or discoloured teeth to improve their alignment or shape. Dentists use a temporary crown to protect the tooth while the permanent crown is created in the dental laboratory. There are different types of crowns depending on the materials. You can get gold-coloured crowns, but porcelain crowns are more common because they match the colour of your teeth, thus providing a more natural look.

Sometimes, ceramic crowns are used with other alloy metals to make much stronger and more durable than porcelain crowns. They are also placed on top of implants to make them look and function like natural teeth. At Twin Lakes Dental, we may advise crown to protect the tooth after a root canal treatment.

How Bridges Work?

As the name suggests, bridges fill the gap left after tooth extraction, especially in adults. When the dentist removes a tooth, the rest of the teeth gradually move to fill the space left, resulting in a bad bite, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders, and gum disease.

To prevent this from happening, dentists cement a false tooth called a pontic on the remaining teeth or implants called abutments. Abutments hold the bridge in place. A bridge is usually a block of ceramic material, although our dentists will help you choose other materials depending on the missing tooth's function, location, cost, and aesthetic considerations.

Tooth Restoration Procedure

At Twin Lakes Dental, we use the latest cad cam dental technology to restore a tooth and provide other forms of dental care. We use the technology to construct bridges, crowns, dentures, and veneers.

  • The process begins with tooth preparation, where our dentists prepare the restoration site by cleaning and removing all the weak and decayed portions of the bad tooth. Intraoral scanning follows, and 3D images of the tooth structure and the surrounding areas are taken using digital scanners.
  • Laboratory professionals make a restoration design using the CAD software and the 3D images from optical scanners to create the final tooth design. Next, the images are fed to a milling unit that shapes the crowns and bridges from a block of ceramic.
  • Lastly, the bridges and crowns undergo the sintering and polishing process, where the machine stains or glazes them before being polished to give our patients that natural look. The dental crowns and bridges are now ready for cementation.
